Process

Every project is unique, but a typical remodeling project looks like this:

Programming

Goal: Determine the scope of the project

  • Client fills out design questionnaire
  • 1st meeting: go over questionnaire, site measure, photos
  • Drawings of existing conditions created, as needed
  • Client collects images of their desired look and feel of project, if desired

Schematic design

Goal: Create a workable floor plan that will fit within the client’s budget

  • Prepare 2-3 floorplan schemes
  • Meeting to go over schemes
  • Updates per meeting
  • Prepare to-scale plans for preliminary contractor pricing including general materials list, appliances, plumbing, etc.
  • Additional plan updates/meetings and revisions as needed

Design development

Goal: Visualize and complete the design

  • Presentation of images for overall look & feel, materials, cabinetry design, etc.
  • Creation of 3-D model rendering
  • Cabinetry elevations, meeting to go over elevations & revisions for cabinet maker
  • Finishes selections & meeting to review
  • Lighting and electrical plan

Permit Set/Construction documents

Goal: Obtain permit and have everything in place needed to build the project

  • Permit drawings
  • Finishes and fixtures specifications

Construction Administration

Goal: make sure the finished project remains true to the original intent

  • Designer available to be on-site for consultations and plan revisions, as needed
